Getting to the grove
If driving, best to plug us into Google Maps. However if travelling via other methods…
FROM STARI BAR
Before the Stari Bar food shop, heading up the hill into the village, there is a little short cut to us. Turn in when you see the graffiti, and follow the path until you hit a tarmac road. Turn left, and walk straight for 200 metres, past the little mosque, and down some cobbled stairs past our treehouse. We are the massive, long building. Walk takes 8-10 minutes.
FROM BAR
Take a bus from Bar train station to Stari Bar for 1 euro. The ‘Mediterran Express’. If anyone (taxi drivers usually) tells you it doesn’t exist, they are lying. Then follow short cut above.
Take a taxi from anywhere in Bar for 5-7 euros, 5 - 10 minutes.
AIRPORT
Podgorica and Tivat airports are pretty much equidistant from us at about 1 hour drive. There are trains and buses from Podgorica airport, or buses from Tivat. Taxis cost roughly 40 euros from either.
FROM ANYWHERE IN MONTENEGRO
Take a bus to Bar, then follow instructions above.
FROM ELSEWHERE
The bus network from Albania, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia is pretty good. Our favourite website is busticket4.me for relatively up to date schedule and prices. Though always worth asking at bus station for secret buses.
There is a famous train from Belgrade to Bar. Overnight or day train. It is a truly jaw dropping ride, but be prepared for the 10 hour ride to perhaps take a lot longer than expected.
